Motorola’s Photon 4G Ready For Release July 31

Wednesday, July 13th, 2011

Motorola’s Photon 4G will be released on Sprint’s network July 31st this summer which should be welcome news for Sprint users. Coming in at the usual on contract price of $200, this is one of the most loaded phones we’ve seen to date. Motorola is targeting both the consumer and business market with the device by offering remote wipe, the ability to plug in your phone to a laptop dock a la the Atrix and Sprint ID to add a litle more personality to your Motoblur features.

Here’s what it’s packing under the hood:

  • Gingerbread
  • Tegra 2 dual-core 1GHz CPU
  • 1GB Ram, 4.3″ qHD display
  • 2 cameras (8 megapixel rear)
  • 16GB of on board memory.

This and the Evo 3D should keep subscribers loyal to Sprint as the carrier battles the AT&T/T-Mobile merger and fends off the pending iPhone 5 release.

White iPhone Here- But THICKER!

Friday, April 29th, 2011

To all you faithful Apple fans who held out for the white iPhone 4, your dreams were finally answered yesterday with the official release of the heralded phone. Drama done with, the handset is shining in your hand and you’re feeling good thinking to yourself, “it was worth the wait after all” – or was it? There were numerous speculations as to the delay in the release of the iPhone, but  a lot centered around the paint chipping – apparently there was some truth in that because the white iPhone is 0.2 mm thicker than the black iPhone 4 – causing problems when purchasing cases which adhere to Apple’s strict size tolerances.

The reason for the thickness? Perhaps extra UV protection for the internal components? Whatever the official reason, we think its safe to say that the white iPhone 4 will never be drama free. Any one encounter any issues yet?

Blackberry PlayBook: RIM’s Tablet

Monday, September 27th, 2010

Today at their annual Blackberry Developer’s Conference, RIM introduced their version of a tablet PC: The Playbook. Not even a day old yet and already the comparisons have begun: The iPad vs The Playbook.

Here’s what we know so far: The tablet will make use of a QNX Operating System which will support both open source and web standard development sources. RIM is hoping that this combination will make the tablet more competitive in the rapidly growing gaming department for both publishers and players alike while also allowing it to target business users. Here’s some more specs:

  • 7′, 1024 x 600 multitouch screen
  • Dual-core 1GHz CPU
  • 1GB RAM
  • 3 megapixel front facing camera
  • 5 megapixel rear facing camera
  • 1080 HD video

The folks over at RIM have confirmed the device will indeed be capable of video conferencing. The Playbook is about 5 by 7 inches and weighs in at just under a pound while being only .4 inches thick. Rumors have it the device will come in 16GB and 32GB versions.

But wait, there’s more – the real WOW factor here is the Playbook’s ability to amplify what’s going on with your Blackberry via Bluetooth tethering. Anyone want to BBM on the big screen?

Thoughts? Are you guys excited out there? Let us know! Here’s the link off of RIM’s website. We’ll update with more as soon as we get it. In the mean time, add this to the list for an interesting holiday season – we’re certainly looking forward to it over here.
