What To Expect From Apple’s WWDC This Year

Friday, June 8th, 2012

Apple’s annual WWDC starts on Monday of next week, and as always, people are curious what to expect. Here’s the rundown of what you should look for:

  • iOS 6 for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices – key points will be a totally redesigned Maps App with 3D maps, Facebook integration, refreshed UI etc
  • Apple TV updates – rumors are flying and right now it’s anyone’s guess what the Apple TV announcement will be
  • Macbooks with Retina Displays – How would you like to own a Macbook with Apple’s famous retina display?
  • New Mac Pros, New iMacs – Apple is expected to announced major updates for their bigger devices

Lots of people felt let down last year with WWDC when Apple didn’t announce the release of the new iPhone, but with this year’s list of rumors running wild about what WWDC should have in store for us, we think people are just fine with the new Fall iPhone release schedule. It seems like Apple isn’t looking to stop their reign of world domination on consumer electronics any time soon.

Live updates to follow on Monday from WWDC.

Microsoft Rumored to Offer $99 Xbox 360 and Kindle Bundle with Subscription

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2012

Following in the footsteps of cell phones, Microsoft is rumored to launch a subsidized Xbox 360 and Kinect bundle with a monthly subscription option. According to reports from The Verge, Microsoft will offer its 4GB gaming console with the Kinect motion sensor for $99 if you agree to a two-year $15/month plan. Much like a cell phone, if you break the contract early, there will be an Early Termination Fee (ETF).

Along with a reduced Xbox price, subscribers get access to Xbox Live Gold, a two-year warranty and additional streaming content, making this plan a competitor to the Apple TV and other streaming devices currently available.

What do you think? Is it worth the monthly fee?

Apple TV to Become a Reality Mid-2012

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

Apple is said to begin production on its television sets in February of 2012. The displays will be manufactured by a Sharp plant in Japan. Everyone is waiting to see what Apple has up its sleeve, as they only enter an industry if they can make a true run at dominating it. Google has already launched their versions of Google TV, but so far it hasnt had much of an impact on the TV industry.

The key component and differentiating factor for Apple TV will be Siri. Rumors are exploding that the entire Apple TV interface will be controlled by voice commands, allowing users to ditch the remote and just talk to their TV. Who said couch potatoes aren’t high tech – Pretty cool, huh?
