iPhone 5 Release Day

Friday, September 21st, 2012

Today was the day we’ve all been waiting for – the famed iPhone 5 release. Two years in the making, an eternity in the Apple world and already well on its way to become the best selling smartphone of all time, the iPhone 5′s first official day of availability definitely didn’t disappoint. We headed down to our home away from home, the Apple store on 5th Ave and took in the scenery.

The line was wrapped around the corner to Madison Ave, but Apple definitely did a much better job of crowd control this time around considering the volume of sales. First off, they didn’t allow presale orders to be picked up in store, instead, forcing people to have them delivered to their homes and offices. This mitigated a lot of foot traffic in and around the store. Even so, that didnt stop the media coverage from dropping by to see the hottest iPhone release since the original phone debuted in 2007.

As always, there were plenty of companies promoting and spreading their brand awareness on 5th Ave and yours truly, BuyBackWorld, was front and center to it all. We stayed true to our roots and sponsored the one and only, world famous line sitter, Greg “the man on the streets” Packer. In true Packer fashion, Greg was the first person to emerge from the Apple cube with the heralded iPhone 5, erupting in a roar that was heard round the world!

The Apple enthusiasts all cheered him on as he climbed the stairs to the top of iPhone glory. Greg chose a black & slate iPhone 5 16GB on the Verizon network as his iPhone of choice for this year. We think this was a solid choice. Be sure to check him out as the “Official Face of the iPhone 5″ in Forbes, The NY Times, Yahoo! News, The Associated Press, Tech Crunch, Venture Beat, CNet, The Huffington Post, Chron.com, The CTPost.com, The LA Times,Whats-hots.com, DemoTix and various other publications.

Our famous “BuyBack Babes” were also present, educating consumers on the “History of the iPhone by BuyBackWorld.com” and joining in on the festivities.

We’re also posting some pics we took ourselves – let us know what you think. We hope to see you all down in NYC for the next Apple release, it was a great time for all!

Here’s some other articles with BuyBackWorld mentioned in them from today’s release. Feel free to post others to our Facebook, we’ll enter you in our iPhone 5 Sweepstakes!

iPhone 5 PreOrders: 2 Million In 24 Hours

Monday, September 17th, 2012

Apple announced today that iPhone 5 preorders topped 2 million units in the first 24 hours of availability. Wow, that’s a lot of iPhone users upgrading :)

To put it into perspective, that is double the amount of upgrades which the iPhone 4S had in its first 24 hours last year, which is already the #1 selling smartphone of all time and the best selling iPhone to date. Translation? The iPhone 5 is poised to smash sales records.

Here’s a peek from Apple’s press release below:

iPhone 5 Pre-Orders Top Two Million in First 24 Hours

Twas The Night Before The iPhone 5!

Tuesday, September 11th, 2012

Twas the night before the iPhone 5, when all through the night

Not a person was sleeping, not even an Android user with Jelly Bean as their latest delight.

The Apple overnight staff hung by the counter with care,

In hopes that the crowds soon would be there.

The media were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of 4G LTE and larger screens danced in their heads.

And Apple in their blue jeans and black shirts,

Have prepared our brains for how the future of mobile phones work.

When out on the stage there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from my computer to see what was the matter.

Away to my iPad I flew in a rage,

Tore open my Safari and threw open my favorite blog page.

The lights on the stage of the CEO

Gave the luster of a new iPhone announcement to the people below.

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,

But a newer iPhone, finally fully visible in the clear.

When a familiar figure, serious like a book,

I knew in a moment it must be Tim Cook!

More rapid than lines outside the store his news came,

And he presented, and shared, and called the new iPhone directly by name!

“This iPhone is the BEST iPhone in the world.”

On BGR, Engadget and CNET we read these words.

To the top of the charts! To the top of it all!

We all watched the keynote in awe of all that we saw!

As the audience rose to their feet with applause,

We were met with a slight grin and a slow pause.

“Oh yea, there’s one more thing” the words flew,

“Presales begin this Friday and on sale starts next Friday”, the rumors were true J

And then, in a twinkling, I watched on my iPad,

The full specs of the iPhone 5, smaller dock connectors with the largest screen an iPhone’s ever had!

As I drew in my head, and was turning around,

The keynote ended on my screen without a sound..

Twas The Night Before The iPhone 5!

Just a little fun from our staff here at BuyBackWorld as we anxiously await the announcement of the iPhone 5. We’ll provide live updates tomorrow and will announce our in-person promo after the press event!

iPhone 5 Event: September 12

Tuesday, September 4th, 2012

It’s almost here. The wait is almost over.

And, in typical Apple fashion it’s official. September 12, 2012 will be the official day that Apple announces the iPhone 5. Judging from the event picture that Apple sent out, the new iPhone will indeed be called the iPhone 5 and not the new iPhone like the current generation iPad. We are almost a week away from having all of our questions answered and rumors addressed, but now it feels longer than ever. Will there be new headphones issued with the iPhone? Is this the iPhone we all expected last year?

Speculation will continue, but here’s one video of a mockup we think accurately depicts what to expect from the new iPhone

iLounge Reports On New iPhone

Thursday, May 3rd, 2012

The editor in chief of iLounge, Jeremy Horwitz, has reported his first backstage blog about the new iPhone. First things first, a Fall release (nothing new).

Now the interesting part: iLounge claims that they have learned that the new iPhone will definitely be longer and thinner than iPhone 4 and 4S. They claim the new iPhone will measure 125mm x 58.5mm, which represents a 10mm jump in height and a 2mm reduction in thickness.

Apple will also be introducing a metal casing to the back of the iPhone and will be flat, not curved. This back will be metal, not ceramic. In my mind, I’m picturing an updated version of the original iPhone, but much, much thinner.

The new iPhone is rumored to be made with Gorilla Glass 2 which allows the same strength at thinner widths. Given that the new iPhone isn’t rumored to get any wider, Apple will have to change the aspect ratio of the device for the first time since the iPhone was originally introduced in 2007, which is a significant change.

Last, but not least, Apple will serve some extra scraps to the accessories dealers by adding a new Dock Connector port, which will be their standard going forward on all new devices, such as the new iPod Touch, the new iPad etc.

We’re sure more updates, changes and rumors will continue to fly, but this is the latest. Full article can be found on iLounge’s website here.

Apple iPhone Rumors (6th Gen)

Monday, April 23rd, 2012

What better way to start off the week than with fresh iPhone rumors (it really never gets old, does it?). In what will surely be the first of many iPhone rumor posts to come, we’re just going to wet your pallet and list what we’ve heard so far.

Supposedly, Apple is setting out to build the thinnest iPhone to date, aiming to measure less than 8 millimeters. The iPhone is looking to utilize a new display technology that will place a panel’s touch sensors inside the color filters, rather than above them, allowing the panel to be thinner, without sacrificing responsiveness. Coupled with a thinner battery and a form factor switch from glass to unibody metal, the iPhone might just come in at a size of 7.9 mm thick, which is no “small” feat! Or is it…

Other reports today reportedly show leaked next gen iPhone home buttons which are “round in the centre and square outside.” See pics below.

In other iPhone news, if you’re not happy with your current iPhone service provider, a new unlock released by “Loktar_Sun” allows anyone to easily release their iPhone from any carrier. That guide can be found here via iClarified.

Apple Working On ‘Revolutionary’ New Product

Friday, April 13th, 2012

The famous french designer Philippe Starck is said to be working with Apple to design a revolutionary new product that will launch within the next eight months. He claims, “indeed, there is a big project together which will be out in eight months,” during a radio interview with the France Info which was published by French TV show, Le Figaro. Starck currently has several electronic devices he designed for sale in Apple stores, but has never worked directly with Apple before.

The designer claims to have met with Steve Jobs numerous times over the years, stating “For seven years I cam to see him once a month in Palo Alto and elsewhere. We liked to talk all things interesting.”

No exact confirmation on what the product might be, but it could very well be the next generation iPhone or the long awaited iTV. As it goes with Apple, only time will tell, because no secrets leave the coveted chambers of Cupertino.

"Quite Revolutionary"

iPhone 5 (6?) Rumors Get Real Official

Tuesday, December 27th, 2011

Today the news hit (courtesy of BGR) that Apple’s next generation iPhone will launch in the Fall of 2012, marking the usual one year product cycle for Apple’s flagship products. All the rumors that we heard last year are coming back to life – the aluminum back, enlarged screen and more. The report also said that the new iPhone will have a rubber or plastic bezel which will connect the glass screen to the aluminum back. This casing will also serve as the iPhone’s new antenna system, improving signal strength and allowing for one seamless piece of iPhone heaven.

We know that there will be more rumors to follow, so let’s grab the popcorn and get ready.

Will This Be The New iPhone in 2012?

Final iPhone 5 RUMORS

Friday, September 30th, 2011

We had to do it. We know over the past few months we’ve had multiple iPhone 5 rumor posts, but today is our last shot to post actual “rumors”. After this weekend we’re moving on to some facts. On Monday it will be iPhone 5 eve and Tuesday will be the heralded unveiling. We know we couldn’t resist so we’re guessing you guys are the same too. Over the past few weeks we’ve had thousands of iPhones pour in and we’re guessing a lot more will be coming in during the next month with the official iPhone 5 announcement.

So what does the iPhone5 have exactly? That’s a great question, one many of us have been asking and speculating on. While we didn’t get a leaked version via Gizmodo from a prototype found in a bar this year, we do have one person’s (well a few, actually) creative genius  at work to display a total ensemble of all the iPhone 5 rumors physically molded into a prototype. If this is what the iPhone will look like, it is a truly beautiful design.

Check out the pics below from German mobile site, BenM and let us know what you think! The full article can be found here.

Here’s also a full video walk through. Keep your fingers crossed and remember you can sell all your old iPhones at BuyBackWorld for the most cash, send us a counter offer and we’ll beat it!

iPhone 5 Event Gets Official

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

“Let’s talk iPhone.” The anticipation is finally over – Apple is officially sending out invites for the iPhone 5 event. As reported by AllThingsD last week, the media event will be hosted by Apple on October 4th at Apple’s campus in Cupertino instead of the usual Moscone Center in San Francisco. Why the change of scenery you may ask? Oracle has the Moscone Center booked already!

The press conference begins at 10:00 am Pacific time (1:00 pm Eastern time) and should answer all the questions we’ve had about the phone for the better half of a year.

AT&T has also placed blackout dates on all employee vacations for the first two weeks of October to “have all hands on deck” so look for the iPhone 5 to launch on October 14th.

Check back with us for all the updates as we’ll cover the event live. Remember, if you’re looking to sell your current iPhone for cash, BuyBackWorld is the #1 place to sell your iPhone! If you’re having any issues, be sure to check out our all informative iPhone Selling Guide or contact us directly with any questions.
