T-Mobile Exploring Possibility of MetroPCS Merger

Thursday, May 10th, 2012

The nation’s fourth largest carrier, T-Mobile, and its German parent company Deutsche Telekom AG, are reportedly discussing a potential merger with MetroPCS, the nation’s fifth largest carrier. The merger would be a direct result of T-Mobile’s continued subscriber defections, having lost 802,000 customers in the fourth quarter of 2011 alone. Deutsche Telekom is considering an outright sale of T-Mobile or a stock-swap transaction that would give Deutsche Telekom continued control over the combined entity.

T-Mobile has been looking for options since its failed merger with AT&T last November. MetroPCS currently has 9.5 million subscribers and growing.

What do you think of this proposed/rumored deal?

T-Mobile LG G2X Too Popular To Carry

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

There has been much hype and speculation surrounding T-Mobile’s LG G2x release and it was initially stated that it was pulled due to a few defects, but today T-Mobile said that is entirely untrue and on the contrary, the device has actually been slowed due to high demand causing inventory constraints. BGR actually reached out and got an official statement from T-Mobile, which said, “The T-Mobile G2x with Google has been a highly popular device with both customers and employees since its launch last month, and high demand has result in inventory constraints, which we are working with LG to address.” Pretty interesting – we’ll wait until we receive one through our doors.
